The History of Mojo
Mojo was the first illustrated character created by Matt Furie, the American artist best known for his surreal, playful style and for inspiring several of the most famous meme-based crypto tokens. Long before internet fame found his later work, Furie introduced Mojo in his early 2000s zine-style comic series Boy’s Club. Mojo embodied Furie’s hallmark blend of absurd humour, laid-back charm, and expressive, almost childlike design. While not as globally recognised as Pepe the Frog, Mojo marked the starting point of Furie’s signature visual language — a quirky, slightly psychedelic world that would later ripple through art, internet culture, and eventually, the cryptocurrency scene.
